Queen's Award for Voluntary Services - 2006

Founder Bill Williams BEM and committee members receiving the award.
By 1988 over 1,500 children had stayed at one of our ‘volunteer’ led camps. Sadly, increasingly onerous child welfare regulations effectively killed these off, so a new approach had to be taken.
Nowadays we let the Camp out to recognised child welfare groups to help fund respite breaks for needier boys & girls. The Camp is entirely managed and maintained by a group of volunteers who were delighted to win the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2006. Up to 500 boys and girls stay at the Camp each year.
